What type of container / size is best for making my hydrogen water?

It is best to make H2Viva hydrogen water in no more than a 16 ounce bottle. Most importantly, the bottle needs to be airtight. Any bottle that is made to hold carbonation will work best - kombucha, Perrier or other sparkling water glass bottles will work well. Screw-top aluminum also works. We understand that due to its chemistry, aluminum optimizes the reaction, although that approach has negatives for most people. The higher grades of stainless also work well. Plastic works but will not provide optimum results and you have the typical concerns associated with plastics. To get benefit, regardless of all considerations, being airtight is most important.

Super Important: Is it important to fill my container all the way to the top with no space when I make my H2Viva hydrogen water?

The answer is a resounding YES! And here is why. H2Viva produces molecular hydrogen (H2), which is a gas. It wants to escape. When you make H2Viva, you want the hydrogen gas to dissolve into the water, so you get the benefits. If you leave air at the top, guess where the H2 goes? Right into the air in the headspace and not into your the water. It's a good idea to fill your container so that it slightly overflows the top when you cap it. If you want maximum benefit, fill ‘er up, all the way!

What is the difference between waiting 5 minutes and 20 minutes?

Assuming you have done everything else properly, the longer you wait, the more H2 is produced.

What happens is I wait for more than 20 minutes?

Again, assuming you have done everything else properly, typically the longer you wait, the more H2 is produced. So it is perfectly fine to allow H2Viva, to process for more than 20 minutes. Many people like to prepare the bottle the night before and then drink their hydrogen water in the morning.

Can I add flavor to H2Viva water without losing any benefit?

We like adding a squeeze of fresh lemon and in fact recommend it. Others enjoy essential oils like citrus or cinnamon. Both are wonderful ways to enhance the experience. Once the hydrogen reaction is complete (15-20 mins) and you are ready to drink, then you can add flavoring and enjoy!

Can I add flavor to the water before making my H2 water

We have experimented with adding fresh lemon juice to the water at the beginning and have found that when we tested it, the H2 saturation had increased from 10% to 20% depending on your source water, container and how long you wait. And it also creates a great taste.

How do I clean my container?

Depending on how long you wait and what is your source water, there can be a small, dark residue that is simply magnesium that was not used up during the processing. It is harmless and safe. It can adhere like hard water scaling and can be easily cleaned. We've found it is very easy to clean if you process your H2Viva upside down as then the residue is on your cap. This method also doesn't allow the gas to escape through your cap. If you create your hydrogen water right side up, clean your container by gently scrubbing with a brush. If it builds up, soften with some vinegar and then scrub.

What are the minerals in H2Viva hydrogen tablets? Are they organic or inorganic?

We asked Tyler LeBaron, Director of The Molecular Hydrogen Foundation and he replied, "to address this question in the detail would require a few pages, but here is as brief as we can make it.

The fact is, all minerals are inorganic. The very definition of organic means that it contains carbon. Magnesium, Carbon, Oxygen and Hydrogen are all elements. Their respective chemical formulae are Mg, C, O and H. These elements can combine together to form molecules, such as sugar, with the chemical formula C6H12O6. Because this molecule of sugar has carbon, it is organic. Carbon is the building block of life. All living things are made out of carbon. Carbon is what makes up amino acids, and fats. Notice that water is H2O, so water itself is inorganic. Minerals found in food are often associated (chelated) with organic compounds like acids (e.g. citric acid, fumaric acid, malic acid, etc.), fats, and amino acids. Depending on the type of mineral (alkaline minerals, or transition metals), the interaction with these organic compounds may increase or decrease the bioavailability and absorption. They may alter the transport binding affinity, redox state of the metal, and interactions with other biomolecules.

Generally minerals (not metals where absorption is protein/redox-dependent) are best, and in many cases only, absorbed in their free cation state. In other words, it is the inorganic form (magnesium ions) that are absorbed. Rest assured, the magnesium found in the water after it has reacted is bio-available, and easily absorbed plus utilized by the cells. It is only a fraction of the DRI, and so there is no significant risk of using a few – or even more – tablets per day."

What is in H2Viva hydrogen tablets?

A proprietary patent pending hydrogen formula. Other ingredients are magnesium, magnesium malate, mannitol, magnesium fumarate, malic acid and fumaric acid.

Has there been any research done with H2Viva tablets?

There are no direct studies that have been performed with the product, since of the available research, approximately 75%-78% was performed with hydrogen (H2) saturated water. H2Viva produces the highest, consistent saturation, that we know of, of H2 in water and this can be easily validated using hydrogen reagent drops.

Is it possible to get too much H2 or overdose on it?

You cannot. Any excess H2 simply escapes as a gas.

Is more H2 better?

H2 is one of the few things where more is actually better. Some studies regarding specific disease models indicated that higher doses were more effective.

What do H2Viva hydrogen tabs cost?

H2Viva tablets cost $1 per dose.

What is the suggested dose per day?

The recommended daily dose is 2 H2Viva tablets per day – one in the morning and one in the afternoon/early evening.

How long will a bottle of H2Viva last?

The bottle is 60 tablets. At suggested dose, that is a one-month supply.

Are the same benefits available from food grade hydrogen peroxide?

While it is popular in some circles for things such as sterilizing drinking water or reputed therapeutic benefits for specific ailments, food grade hydrogen peroxide [H2O2] has no similarity to dissolved molecular hydrogen [H2]. Hydrogen peroxide is a very powerful oxidizer and is used as a bleaching agent and disinfectant. Molecular hydrogen [H2] is a reducing agent / anti-oxidant.

Can H2 produce nausea?

If anyone feels sick while taking H2Viva hydrogen tablets, it is much more likely to be correlation and not causation. As previously stated, there is no risk of toxicity by ingesting the small amount of magnesium or from H2 gas itself. Hydrogen gas is void of any toxicity at levels significantly higher than what an H2Viva hydrogen tablet can make. Hydrogen won't build up in the body. Excess is just breathed out by the lungs. Some people have reported the H2Viva appears to help alleviate constipation and may even promote loose stools, which can be considered a cleansing effect, which like any cleansing, can produce symptoms including nausea.

Do H2Viva tablets micro-cluster the water?

They do not. Some hydrogen researchers question the concept of micro-clustering.

Are there any contraindications from ingesting H2?

There are no known contraindications.

So if the H2Viva tablets produce high levels of H2, then is "more better"?

There are studies of some specific disease models that indicate that with H2, more is actually better.

Are there any studies on the H2Viva tablets?

No direct studies on the product – yet! However it is important to say that of the available research, approximately 75%-78% was performed with hydrogen (H2) saturated water. Are H2Viva tablets explosive or combustible?

No.

Hydrogen Water and Water Ionizers

Will a water ionizer make molecular hydrogen?

Yes. Water ionizers can produce H2-rich water through electrolysis. At the cathode, H+ ions are converted to H2 hydrogen gas. The decrease in H+ ions results in a more alkaline pH. Most home water ionizers produce about 0.1 – 0.3ppm of H2 at pH 9.5. Higher pH levels are typically not palatable, but higher H2 concentrations are possible when flow rate is reduced. The good news is that we have tested water from the top AlkaViva models, the Vesta H2 and Athena H2, and they tested very effective for producing H2.

Is there a correlation between molecular hydrogen, pH and ORP?

Not any direct correlation. You can have high pH and –ORP with without any H2. Conversely you can have strong –ORP with a high saturation level of H2, and you can also have high pH without any –ORP or H2. The tablets produce H2 directly and they also increase pH and –ORP.

Is negative ORP the same as molecular hydrogen?

It is not. The ORP or Oxidation-Reduction Potential, can be indicative of the presence of H2, but it is not a measurement of the concentration. You can have –ORP and not have any molecular hydrogen.

How do H2Viva tablets and water from my ionizer compare?

Typical home water ionizers produce about 0.1 – 0.3ppm of molecular hydrogen at pH of 9.5. The best ionizers like our Vesta H2, will produce closer to 1ppm depending on source water and flow. The tablets can produce over 3ppm. H2Viva hydrogen tabs will achieve concentration of molecular hydrogen at near saturation (1.6 ppm). This concentration makes it possible to ingest a greater quantity of H2 without consuming large quantities of water. H2Viva is suggested as a supplement to be used twice daily. Ionized water can still be consumed throughout the day – in fact we think this is the optimum approach!

Can I make my H2Viva tablets with water from my ionizer?

You can – in fact we do! You will achieve higher concentrations of H2 if electrically ionized water is used.

H2Viva and other H2 Products

How does H2Viva compare to other H2 producing tablets?

We are aware of a few other H2 producing tablets that we believe are private labeled versions of a similar (not the same) formula from the same manufacturer. They differ from ours in two significant ways. First, our H2Viva tablets are oval and the other brands are round. Most importantly, we have tested three different “round” brands of tablets and found our oval version to be between 10% to 25% stronger depending on your source water and the container used. The size of our oval tablet could be larger, or the formula slightly more powerful in our case. Regardless, if you test H2Viva against the others you will see – and feel – a demonstrable difference.

How does H2Viva compare to ingestible H2 tablets or powders?

There are two products on the market. SevenPoint2’s 7.2 Recovery with HydroFX and PrimoH2. We believe these to be the same product branded differently. Both claim benefits. We strongly note:

How do H2Viva tablets compare to hydrogen sticks?

There are many relatively cheap hydrogen sticks available on the market. Hydrogen sticks will in fact produce H2 gas.

How does H2Viva compare to Source Naturals HydrogenBoost and Patrick Flannigan’s MegaHydrate?

We think the only thing H2Viva tablets have in common with these products is the word hydrogen!

How does H2Viva compare to other hydrogen producing products?

We strongly suggest that you consider the best resource - the research. Around 75% -80% of the available research on H2 was conducted with molecular hydrogen gas saturated water.
